He is described as a fruitful bough, yielding strong and rich oil, and representing a tribe known for their wealth and prosperity. The tribe of Asher is associated with the northern region of present-day Israel, along the Mediterranean coast. The descendants of Asher are said to have been skilled craftsmen and traders, and played a significant role in the formation of the ancient Kingdom of Israel.
