Who was Adriel?

Adriel was a biblical figure mentioned in the Book of Samuel. He was the son of Barzillai the Meholathite, a Gileadite from Rogelim. Adriel was the husband of Michal, the daughter of King Saul. He was also the father of Merab and Michal's five sons. Adriel is best known for his role in the story of David and Michal. After Saul's death, David asked for Michal's hand in marriage. Saul's son, Ish-Bosheth, refused to give her to him, so Adriel took her as his wife instead. This angered David, who then took Adriel's daughter, Merab, as his own wife.
